Jamie Lynn Buehner, MAT, MFA, English Teacher

I created my “Professional Teacher Bio” for my own class assignment while I was earning my teaching credential in Alaska, but have found this keeping this site up to date useful as a kind of living document as I have navigated now four school districts.

I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT): Secondary Education at the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau, AK, in May 2022, my Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in May 2011, and my Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English at Winona State University in May 2000.

During the 2023-2024 school year I taught English Language Arts (ELA) at Fond du Lac High School in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; 2022-2023 at Oshkosh West and Oshkosh North high schools in Oshkosh, Wisconsin; and in 2021-2022, at Yaakoosge Daakahidi High School in Juneau, Alaska.

In June of 2024, we relocated to California, and I began working full time for Pivot Charter School – North Bay. This school year, 2026-2027 will be my second year with Pivot and I’ll also be earning my ELA Authorization.

I have been writing and publishing poetry and prose off and on since 2007, and writing has always been an important way to understand what I think. A list of my publication credits can be found here; there will be more to come.

Thank you for reading.
