Jamie Lynn Buehner is an MAT candidate at the University of Alaska Southeast, currently student teaching in Angela Noon’s 9th- and 10th-grade English classes at Thunder Mountain High School in Juneau, Alaska.
Jamie earned her Master of Fine Arts degree at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 2011.
She met her husband while traveling in Marrakech, Morocco, in 2013: they lived for two years in Istanbul, Turkey, and for two years in Bonn, Germany, where Imogen Charlotte was born. In December of 2016, they moved to Alaska, now three.
Ansel Emmett was born in May of 2018, completing a family of four.
While working from home, still telecommuting to Bonn, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, forcing everyone to spend even more time indoors, Jamie thought to earn her AK teaching credential, so as to be ready to share her energy and enthusiasm for reading and the written word locally as soon as the time allowed.
Jamie has been writing poems for 20 years. A list of publication credits can be found here; recent work in the pages of Ruminate, in UAS’ own Tidal Echoes, and in Alaska Women Speak (all print editions). Her chapbook Catalpa (Red Bird Chapbooks, 2016), a second collaboration with artist and Hamline alum Susan Solomon, can be purchased at Kindred Post in downtown Juneau.
