Jamie earned her Master of Arts in Teaching degree at the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau, Alaska, in 2022, and her Master of Fine Arts degree at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 2011.
She met her husband while traveling in Marrakech, Morocco, in 2013: they lived for two years in Istanbul, Turkey, and for two years in Bonn, Germany, where their daughter Imogen Charlotte was born. In December of 2016, they moved to Juneau, where their son Ansel Emmett was born in May of 2018.
While still telecommuting to Bonn, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, forcing everyone to spend even more time indoors, Jamie thought to earn her state teaching credential, so as to be ready to share her energy and enthusiasm for reading and the written word as soon as the time allowed.
Jamie has also been writing for 20-some years. A list of publication credits can be found here; recent work is in UAS’ own Tidal Echoes and in Alaska Women Speak print editions. Her chapbook Catalpa (Red Bird Chapbooks, 2016), a second collaboration with artist and Hamline alum Susan Solomon, can be purchased at Kindred Post in downtown Juneau.
